Mazda 626. The tax expired in 2011 and I’ve been watching it quietly decompose since.
VW
Opel Kadett E. These were everywhere once.
Benelli with less than six cylinders and from when they were still Italian.

Apparently my late granpa had one of those 626s as a company car for a while in the 80's. You very rarely see those around nowadays.

You know, I get upset with folks saying “Porsh”. I guess I should start using
Matsuda
... but sounds like the founders pushed “Mazda”, so it’s all good.

These things disappeared here too. A friend’s sister bought one new in 1988. It was a LeMon....

Oh yeah I was was going to say that’s like how Toyoda became Toyota, although that one was for more auspicious kanji and Mazda was just so people can pronounce it in the west and have better marketing there. Godzilla is Gojira but they thought it would be better since lizard and zilla sound monster like and westerners wouldn’t pay identify with Gojir a.

I always enjoy the Europpo’s DOTS. Some interesting stuff today. The Kadette E is pretty unusual. Are those fog lights on the rear?
I also always find the absence of side marker lights in addition to the indicators to be somewhat jarring when I see a non USDM spec of a car I am familia r with.
Benelli is cool. I can't imagine a more Italian looking motorcycle.

This guy talks about Toyoda/Toyota at the beginning - kind of
a superstitious reason,
to not be associated with indecision.

It’s been ages since I’ve seen a pre-early 2000s Mazda here. Even early 2000s car that are still puttering about have very visible rust issues a lot of the time.
I’m surprised an older 626 has lasted so long in a relatively moist country like Ireland. I guess not really having snow or the road salt necessitated by snow helps a lot.

Yes, it was common to find rear fog lights as something
of an afterthought then. Not unknown now either especially on cars also sold in places without them.

It’s probably like a sieve underneath....you can’t see it in the picture but the rear panels have rust bubbling up everywhere.

On the E Kadett iyou had two varieties that were common (here) , neither of which is the same as in your picture. First, you had one reverse light and one rear fog light, simply integrated in the rear lights. This was most common. You also had 2 reverse lights and 1 rear fog light. It might depend on the year or version , I am not sure.
Anyway, why is the RHD Opel in your picture not labeled as a Vauxhall Astra ?

It’s probably an after market modification.
Vauxhalls have
been
sold only
in the UK since I think the 1970s. Up to then you could get both Opel and Vauxhall in the s
ame market. You do see V
auxhalls here but they’re secondhand
UK imports. People tend to just advertise them as Astras or whatever and ignore the Vauxhall badge.
